The celebrations, which run throughout August, include parades, fireworks, and religious processions, honoring both the nation's independence and the local patron saint, San Francisco. While Puerto Vallarta itself is a bit further away, many residents and expats visit El Pitillal for these events, making for a convenient opportunity to explore a nearby community.
The highlight of the month is the grand Independence Day celebration on August 15th, featuring a spectacular fireworks display that lights up the night sky. It's a sight to behold, and I've heard from friends who have attended that it's a truly memorable experience.
