Lithuania’s Tech Powerhouse Visits Miami: What It Means for You
Earlier this month, a high-level delegation from Lithuania, led by President Gitanas Nauseda, visited Miami. This group, comprising 40-plus business leaders, aimed to strengthen tech and business ties between the two regions. The visit comes at a time when Miami is emerging as a fintech hub, particularly for companies operating in the Americas.

While Miami attracts tech talent and investment, Lithuania stands out as a fintech powerhouse, issuing the most licenses for such companies in the European Union. The Lithuanian government has transformed the nation into a fintech gateway, making it easier for fintechs to operate across the EU. This has led to a thriving ecosystem, with over 240 fintechs contributing billions to the economy annually.
“Lithuania’s potential is far greater than its global visibility,” said Liutauras Tarabrinas, CEO of Ria Money Transfer in Lithuania. “Residents are multilingual, with English widely spoken, and they have some of the highest education rates in the EU, offering cost-effective talent for international business.”
This collaboration could open new doors for expats and digital nomads in Miami. As Lithuanian companies seek to expand their U.S. presence, Miami-based businesses might find opportunities to partner or invest in Lithuania. Expect more tech meetups, networking events, and potentially, more Lithuanian startups setting up shop in Miami.
