Prepare for Silence: Mexico City Airports Will Be Quiet for 4 Hours Tomorrow
Alright, expats and digital nomads, it’s that time again. Starting tomorrow, September 16, Mexico City’s airports will be going dark for four hours. This means no takeoffs or landings between 8:00 AM and noon. It's a regular occurrence, but it still catches everyone off guard, including long-timers like myself.
Compared to my native Russia, this is a bit of a non-event. In Moscow, there are constant disruptions and delays, so when the airports shut down, it’s more of an inconvenience. Here in Mexico City, the silence is almost eerie. It’s like the city is holding its breath for a few hours, then exhales as the planes start flying again.
For those of you with flights, it might be worth checking in early. The airspace will be empty, making it a perfect time to grab a coffee or a quick bite at one of the airport cafes. Who knows, maybe you’ll even spot a pilot taking a break in the control tower?
And if you’re curious about how this compares to the Russian capital, rest assured, Moscow’s airports are usually busy even at 8:00 AM. Here, the morning quiet can be a bit unsettling, but it’s a good chance to appreciate the calm before the storm.
So, mark your calendars and be prepared for a few hours of less noise and more tranquility. Happy travels!
