Can I safely explore the Hollywood Hills on foot?

I'll be visiting LA in November and I'm thinking of revisiting some locations from a video game I played recently, like the Beverly Hills Hotel and Santa Monica Pier. I've been to LA before and I'm not sure if it's safe to walk around the hills, especially with no sidewalks and no parking.

If you want to see the houses, driving by is your best bet, but you won't see much because the ultra wealthy have very private mansions. You'll only catch glimpses of driveways winding around trees or tall hedges in front of the houses. For hiking, there are numerous dirt roads and trails to explore. One of the most famous trails is Runyon Canyon, and you can also hike to Mount Hollywood behind a notable observatory. If you're interested in seeing mansions and architecture, walking around the Beverly Hills Flats or Hancock Park is a good option, but that's not the same as exploring the hills.

Hollywood Boulevard starts a gradual climb into the hills where it intersects Laurel Canyon Boulevard. The street is purely residential, and there are no sidewalks. However, it's a nice walk, and you get to see a variety of house types from different decades. Some houses under construction have elaborate foundations that enable them to cling to the hillside. I've enjoyed walking this route twice.

The hills are quite steep, and many of them lack sidewalks. If you're planning to walk, consider mapping out a route that highlights interesting architecture or history, and don't forget to bring a hat, water, and snacks.

I disagree with the previous statement. The walk I described is not excessively steep unless you're out of shape or prone to exaggeration. I specifically mentioned the lack of sidewalks.

The roads in Beverly Hills' hills are quite different from those in other areas. They're much wider, likely due to the city's intentional urban planning. This makes a significant difference in terms of safety and walkability.
