Houston Expats: Water District 10 Unveils Student Murals on Water Tank

Water District 10 in Travis County, Texas, has taken a creative approach to water conservation by featuring student artwork on a water storage tank in West Lake Hills. Eighteen students from Eanes Independent School District (ISD) were selected to have their artwork displayed as murals on the tank. This initiative, part of the Young Artist Art Competition, invites children to illustrate what water conservation means to them.

Carla Ortiz, general manager of Water District 10, explained, 'Instead of another notice or reminder about conservation, we asked children to show us what water and conservation mean to them. Our thought was that when children become interested in where their water comes from and why it needs to be protected, that awareness often reaches their families, neighbors, and friends as well and gives an opportunity for conversations to start.'
