I'm looking for a place to sit and talk with a friend, not a bar or restaurant, but somewhere comfortable to catch up for an hour or two. We ended up back at my apartment, but she wanted to get out of the house. I'm wondering if there are any places like that in Halifax.

musicateight.com is a website that lists upcoming music shows in Halifax, including direct links to each band's Bandcamp or Spotify and a YouTube sample track so you can quickly hear if they're your vibe. It was built to make it easier for people to find out what's going on in the Halifax music scene, and it's already been praised by locals for being a great resource.
