I was walking by DePaul University in the Little Italy neighborhood last night and saw some people with microphones harassing passersby about abortion and gender identity. They were following people onto the crosswalk to try and get them to say something. Is this a common occurrence and what can I do about it?

It's not a new issue, unfortunately. I attended school in the southern United States, and this type of incident occurred regularly, often resulting in police intervention.

When interacting with these individuals, it's likely they're trying to provoke a reaction for content purposes. They may be seeking confrontation.

Harassment by individuals claiming to be devout at a major Catholic university is a disturbing trend, but it's not entirely unexpected.

This person appears to be a self-proclaimed 'influencer' who targets abortion clinics, intimidating and bullying individuals entering these facilities. It's concerning that they're not being held accountable. I'd rather they were protesting in front of a university like DePaul, rather than harassing patients outside a doctor's office.

As a graduate of DePaul, the largest Catholic university in the United States, I can confidently say that the institution does not condone the actions of these individuals, who claim to be speaking on its behalf.

This person identifies as an evangelical who believes they're engaged in spiritual warfare against the Catholic Church, which is a bizarre and misguided perspective.
