Chetumal's Barrio Mágico Takes On Revitalization Efforts
Chetumal's Barrio Mágico is stepping up its efforts to rejuvenate its historical heart. Governor Mara Lezama of Quintana Roo visited the area to see the progress of the project and hear from residents, business owners, and social representatives. The initiative aims not only to restore facades but also to create visitor-friendly spaces that highlight the city's rich history and traditions.

During the tour, Lezama inspected the works along the 22nd of January Avenue and the Heroes Avenue. She also visited the Ávila Camacho theater, whose facade will be restored to its original design. The group visited the quiosco, a site that represents a point of tradition for Chetumal residents. The project seeks to preserve elements of the city's urban memory and make its public spaces more attractive.
Lezama emphasized the importance of citizen participation in the project's development. She highlighted the residents' knowledge of the city's history and traditions, noting their invaluable contributions to the project. She also mentioned the QR codes for project information, which allow residents to access details about the works and their characteristics.
Arrived in Cancún in 2022 from South Korea. Still figuring things out, writing it down as it happens.
