Bicycles, scooters, and other alternative modes of transport are becoming more common, but this growth comes with challenges. Local organizations like MT Bike are working to foster a culture of shared respect on the roads.

Respect and Safety: Martín Lombardi, a leader of MT Bike, stresses the need for mutual respect among road users. Drivers should recognize cyclists as legitimate road users, while cyclists should follow rules and be aware of their surroundings. MT Bike promotes the slogan “1.5 meters of respect for the cyclist, because it’s also a life.”
Practical Tips for Residents and Visitors: If you’re hopping on a bike or scooter in Cancún, remember to stay visible and signal clearly.
