No Water Restrictions During North Calgary Water Project, City Says

While cooler temperatures and lower water demand have made a difference, the City of Calgary has confirmed that there will be no outdoor water restrictions for the ongoing North Water Servicing Project this week. This project, a 22-kilometre line with 10 support buildings, is expected to add 100 million litres of water capacity to the city.

The electrical work, starting this week at the Bearspaw water treatment plant, will temporarily reduce the amount of water that can be distributed. However, the current weather forecast and lower seasonal water use are expected to keep overall water demand within acceptable limits. Residents and businesses are still asked to be mindful of their water usage, especially outdoors, and to follow the outdoor watering schedule.

Calgary Mayor Jeromy Farkas highlighted the importance of this project and praised the hundreds of people working on it. The mayor also noted that a separate Bearspaw South feeder main project, planned for mid-to-late October, will require temporary Stage 4 water restrictions and indoor water conservation for four weeks.
