The rainy season has brought much-needed relief to Tepic, but it has also posed new challenges to the city’s water infrastructure. As I watch Sayulita grow, I can’t help but notice these changes. Torrential downpours have damaged water wells and disrupted household supplies, leading to temporary service outages. Local authorities are stepping up to ensure a steady water flow, but the situation is far from ideal.

The main issues hit two critical points: the fourth well in the southern aquifer and the Guayabo well in Las Banderas. These failures have left many residents without water, highlighting the vulnerability of our systems. While the city tries to mitigate these issues, the ongoing rain continues to impact our daily lives. Painting alebrijes and beach scenes, I find myself reflecting on the trade-offs of living in a place that’s both beautiful and sometimes unreliable.

Paints alebrijes and beach-scene murals out of a small studio near the plaza. Has watched Sayulita grow from a fishing village into what it is now, for better and worse.
