New Mural Project Brings Color to Santurce's Arts District

Residents and digital nomads of Santurce, get ready for a splash of color! The city council has announced a new initiative to beautify the arts district with murals, but the cost is a bit of a surprise.

According to the council, the project will cost $350,000. This is a significant increase from the initial budget of $250,000, which was announced a few months ago. This means that the budget for each mural will likely be higher than expected, possibly reaching $10,000 per piece.

Local muralist muralistsanturce, who has been painting in the area for years, has mixed feelings about the news. 'I understand the desire to make the arts district stand out, but the increase in cost could have been used more efficiently,' he says. 'Some of the walls that deserve color have been neglected for years, and I hope the new budget will help fill that gap.'

While the project is expected to bring a lot of color to the neighborhood, the delay in execution could affect those who have been waiting for public art. The council assures that the work will begin shortly, with the first murals to be unveiled in early summer.
