Tenerife Hotels to Offer Emergency Shelter to Vulnerable Residents
The Tenerife tourism office, under the leadership of Pablo Suárez, has announced a new initiative to provide emergency shelter for those in need. This initiative, called 'Habitación 112,' allows hotels to offer rooms to agencies managing crises such as volcanic eruptions, wildfires, and floods. This follows the local hotel association's broader strategy to prepare the sector for potential risks, including a '74-page Emergency Response Manual.'

Elaborating on the importance of this initiative, Suárez emphasizes that as Tenerife is known for its pleasant weather, residents and digital nomads benefit from having a reliable source of accommodation during emergencies. He stresses the need for all hotels to register on the platform and emphasizes the importance of multilingual communication and evacuation protocols in the manual.
As the initiative is rolled out, Suárez also advises expats and digital nomads to keep the emergency contact numbers of their hotels and local authorities handy, ensuring they are prepared for any unexpected emergency.
