Puerto Vallarta’s Soleva Closed by Profeco: What It Means for You

When I moved to Puerto Vallarta in 2018, Soleva was one of those local hangouts I heard a lot about but never quite figured out. Fast forward to 2026, and Soleva is no more, at least, not as a functioning business. On September 12, 2026, Profeco, the consumer protection agency, suspended all sales at Puerto Vallarta’s Soleva. This development has left many of us wondering: what exactly is going on, and how will this impact our daily lives?

Why the Closure?

The official reason for Soleva’s suspension is that Profeco found the business was not complying with certain regulations. It’s a bit of a mystery exactly what those regulations are, but it could be anything from tax issues to safety concerns. As a new resident, I’m still trying to learn the town one mistake at a time, so I’m not sure how much I can trust my own instincts on these matters. For now, I’m just trying to understand the situation.

What Does This Mean for Us?

For expats and digital nomads like myself, the closure of Soleva could be a minor inconvenience. It’s just another thing to add to the long list of local quirks and regulations we have to get used to. However, it’s worth noting that Profeco’s actions are part of a broader effort to maintain the quality of life in Puerto Vallarta. So, while Soleva is no longer an option, there are likely other businesses that can fill the void.
