Why are SWIFT transfers taking so long to Cambodia?

Why are SWIFT transfers taking so long to Cambodia?

I've been trying to transfer money to Cambodia for two weeks now, and it's still not arrived. I've already checked with my bank, and they say it's in the SWIFT zone, but they don't have any advice for me.

National holidays in Cambodia can cause a snag in banking services. Pchum Ben, for instance, is a significant holiday that brings all bank activities to a halt. As a result, money gets stuck in limbo, and bills go unpaid due to the lack of access to funds.

The longest I've had to wait for a transfer was approximately two weeks. During this time, there's little you can do but wait patiently for the funds to arrive. Thankfully, this week's schedule is holiday-free, which might expedite the process, but it's likely to be a busy week for banks with many transfers to process.

You might want to consider using Western Union or MoneyGram if the amount isn't too large. I've used them before and they're safe.

If you're transferring a smaller amount, a direct transfer to a card is almost instant. I use Revolut or Remitly to transfer money to my ABA card, and it arrives within a minute. Unless you're sending a lot of money, this is a better option.
