My sister is considering inpatient care for severe depression and bipolar disorder. She needs a reliable facility with good staff and accommodations.

I've heard mixed things about the facilities in the area, but I would avoid Quail Run. I've heard they have a lot of issues with patient care and staff turnover.

It's worth noting that when it comes to inpatient mental health facilities, it's not always about which one is 'better.' Often, it's about who has available beds. If your sister is being sent from a hospital or ER, she may not have a choice in which facility she goes to.

I've had similar experiences with Aurora. I've waited up to 12 hours in their holding area before getting a bed. But when I did get a bed, the staff was very supportive and the facilities were clean.

I would recommend Banner Behavioral Health Hospital in Scottsdale. They have private rooms and newer facilities. I've heard good things about their staff and care.

I've been to a few inpatient facilities in the area, and my personal favorite is Aurora in Tempe. They have a great outdoor area where patients can go, and their equine therapy program is really unique and fun. However, I have to say that the other ward I was in there had a very small window and was pretty cramped.
