I'm a remote worker looking for a new place to live in NYC, considering an area around 125/ Malcolm X with nearby Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, but my roommate is concerned about safety.

I live near 145th Street and have to get off the 1/2/3 train at 125th Street frequently. The area is often cluttered with trash and debris, regardless of the time of day.

The 1 train stops on Broadway, while the 2 and 3 trains stop at Lenox Avenue, which is a short walk from the 1/2/3 station.

Moving east from the 1/2/3 station, the neighborhood takes a turn for the worse in terms of appearance. However, that corner is home to the Red Rooster restaurant, which has a relatively relaxed atmosphere.

It's possible that your roommate is not entirely satisfied with the apartment and is trying to shift the blame to the neighborhood. This could be due to a lack of alignment in your expectations or preferences.

Tons of crackheads around there.
