I'm a software worker living in Miami, originally from the Netherlands. I've been here since 2018 and I'm trying to remember the name of a department store from my childhood that used to be at the southern end of the Suniland shopping center, near the movie theater on Dixie Hwy.

My grandfather used to take me to a shopping center in the 90s when I was a kid. It was already showing signs of decline and was often half empty. I'm not sure if it was a Zayre or a Jefferson, but I think it was a Zayre. The main attraction for me was the movie theater, where I saw many random matinees. The area feels like a shadow of its former self now.

Over the years, the shopping center had several names, including Jackson Byrons, J Byrons, Byrons, and Uptons.

I'm not aware of a movie theater at J Byron's.
