My father found a Sulcata African tortoise on the road and we're planning to keep it, but we're not sure if it belongs to someone in the area.

Miami's invasive species problem is largely due to irresponsible exotic pet owners who release their pets into the wild.

My dad works in construction and built our home himself, so our fences are sturdy. I caught our tortoise trying to escape, but it didn't get far. I'm not sure how many people in Miami have tortoises, but it seems like a lot.

A tortoise is a pretty unusual pet to release, but I guess it's not entirely impossible. I've heard of people letting their pets roam free, but a tortoise is a big commitment.

Glad y'all are keeping it safe in the meantime

Someone is looking for their tortoise, which is probably a good thing because tortoises can live a long time and need proper care.

I'm not sure if this is the right area, but I'm going to take a guess that a lot of people in Miami have exotic pets.
