Cambodian passport holders - anyone travelled to Egypt and got visa on arrival?

I've been trying to figure out visa requirements for Egypt and it's been a bit confusing. I've seen that Cambodian tourists can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival, but some embassy information still mentions prior approval for Cambodian nationals. Has anyone here travelled to Egypt on a Cambodian passport using visa on arrival, without obtaining an Egyptian visa beforehand?

It seems you're facing a challenging situation. Eligibility for a visa on arrival in Cambodia appears to be tied to possessing a valid visa or sticker from certain countries, including the US, UK, Schengen countries, Canada, or Australia/New Zealand.

I can relate to your experience, as I've had to wait for a response from the embassy in Bangkok. According to some information, there are three separate eligibility routes for a 30-day visa on arrival: general eligibility, eligibility based on a third-country visa, and an additional eligibility for Sinai only when arriving at Sharm el Sheikh.

For Cambodian passport holders, a visa is required to visit Egypt for business or tourism purposes. To obtain a visa, travelers must apply for a paper or embassy visa through an embassy, consulate, or visa center before their trip.
