What public spaces are in Halifax?

I'm looking for a place to sit and talk with a friend, not a bar or restaurant, but somewhere comfortable to catch up for an hour or two. We ended up back at my apartment, but she wanted to get out of the house. I'm wondering if there are any places like that in Halifax.

North America seems to be lacking in public spaces where people can socialize and build relationships outside of work and home. I visited Lisbon, where these types of spaces are abundant, and it's clear that they contribute to a more extensive social network.

Given that Halifax has six universities, it's surprising that there aren't more 24-hour cafes to cater to students and individuals who want to study or socialize late at night, especially considering the importance of such a service for academic and personal purposes.

OR TRANSIT, or 24hr food/groceries. It's crazy that these options aren't available in Halifax.

Community centres used to be for this purpose, but I'm not sure if they still are. Maybe they're not as well-known as they used to be.

Halifax is noticeably short on 'third places,' which are public spaces that serve as an alternative to work and home. One of the few options available is Cafe du Port, which stays open until 11 pm, but it's the only one I can think of.

Trident's open until 9pm, maybe that's an option?

Historically, places of worship and community centers have filled the need for public spaces where people can connect and build relationships. While they may not be as popular as they once were, they still provide a fundamental human need for community and social interaction.
