Uncertain Rainfall Forecast Brings Caution to Da Nang and Surrounding Areas
As a software worker based in Da Nang for over six years, the weather here has become a familiar yet ever-changing partner in my daily routine. Today, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting is warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms, bringing with it a mix of anticipation and caution.

The forecast is uncertain, with an 80 percent chance that a low-pressure system over the East Vietnam Sea could strengthen into a tropical depression within the next day or two. This uncertainty is particularly relevant for expats and digital nomads like myself, who might be planning outdoor activities or expecting disruptions to work and travel.
On Friday, expect moderate to heavy rain across southern Nghe An Province to Da Nang and eastern Quang Ngai, with localized rainfall potentially exceeding 100 mm. The southern Central Highlands and southern Vietnam will also see significant rainfall, with up to 120 mm in isolated areas.
The forecast suggests heavier rain between Saturday night and Sunday, with 50-100 mm in some areas, and up to 200 mm in some regions. The Central Highlands and southern Vietnam will continue to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, with localized downpours surpassing 100 mm.
This uncertainty can affect daily life, so it's wise to stay informed and adjust plans accordingly. With the forecast for September 14 to 17 also pointing towards widespread heavy rain, flash floods are a risk. Make sure to check local weather updates and prepare for potential disruptions.
