I work in fashion in NYC and I'm looking to discover local Thai brands and designers in Bangkok. I've been to the Icon, Siam area, standalone boutiques, but I haven't found much beyond cheap clothes and high-end Western designers. I'd love to support some cool local Thai brands and designers.

Have you checked out the Ari neighborhood?

If you're looking for a great selection of local designers, consider the area around Phromphong. There are some excellent boutiques to explore, including Fewer Better Things, Onion - The Mansion, and Craie.

Before you start shopping, it's worth considering your budget. Some talented designers only create bespoke pieces from their ateliers, while others offer more casual options. You might want to check out Asava, Canitt, and Fahchak for a more laid-back look. Alternatively, Aimer and Salisa are also worth visiting. If you're in Siam Square, be sure to stop by Tres, a great spot for local fashion. If you're at CentralWorld or Central Chidlom, you'll find local Thai designers showcasing their work on the floors.

Fashion is pretty subjective, and what's good or bad can vary depending on body shape. If you're looking for a certain American or European designer, you might not find it in Bangkok. Avant-garde styles are also harder to come by here. But if you're into thrifting, Chatuchak market is a great place to find local designers and unique pieces.
