I'm planning a trip to Bali and I want to know if I need to declare my over-the-counter medications and if I need a doctor's letter to bring them into the country. I have some medications like paracetamol, something for nausea, and an OTC for muscle spasms, all in the original packaging with my name on the pharmacies printed label.

I had a frustrating experience at Yogykarta airport after arriving from Singapore. They made me go through customs and confiscated my Diazepam, citing the need for a prescription for all medications. However, they let me keep my ibuprofen, which is available over the counter in Indonesia. To avoid this issue in the future, I was advised to take a photo of my prescription and carry it with me.

For psychoactive medications, it's essential to have the necessary documentation when traveling to Indonesia. In contrast, ibuprofen is an over-the-counter medication that can be easily purchased at convenience stores.

When traveling to Bali, I learned that it's crucial to research the regulations surrounding my medication, Vyvanse. I compiled a package with my doctor's letter, pharmacist script, and original packaging, declared it at customs, and only brought the amount needed for my trip. The customs officer asked about my medication and its purpose, and I was allowed to pass through without issue.
