I've been in Da Nang for 15 days and it's really rare to see cats. I've seen only 2 in this period, whereas there are many dogs. Where I come from, there are cats in every street.

Da Nang has a significant feline population. I observed several cats roaming freely today. The city's pet owners seem to be aware of the issue.

Pet owners in Da Nang typically keep their cats indoors, likely due to concerns about their safety and well-being.

And stray cats? There isn't?

In Da Nang, it's crucial to keep cats indoors to prevent them from being captured and sent to facilities that process animals for meat. The city's veterinary care system is limited, with few reputable clinics and skilled veterinarians. Furthermore, Da Nang lacks a strong culture of pet ownership, and many people discard their pets when they fall ill. Even families expecting a new baby often choose to get rid of their pets, considering it more hygienic to keep them indoors.

Stray cats are common in Da Nang, particularly around markets. However, it's essential to be cautious, as they may be captured for the meat trade. In contrast, Thailand has a more lenient attitude towards stray cats, and they are generally safer. In Da Nang, pet owners should consider keeping their pets indoors or in an enclosed garden.
