Where to Stay in Da Nang 2026: Best Areas for Digital Nomads and Expats
The best area to stay in Da Nang is My Khe Beach for most visitors, you get direct beach access, affordable hotels ($25-200/night), and walkable restaurants and cafes. For digital nomads, An Thuong neighborhood offers coworking spaces and expat community. Here's my guide to every Da Nang neighborhood after living here for several years.
My Khe Beach Area
This is where most tourists stay, and honestly, it's where I ended up settling too. The reasons are simple: the beach is beautiful (Forbes once named it one of the world's most attractive beaches), hotels range from budget to luxury, and restaurants and cafes line the coastal road with something for every taste and budget.
The area has developed rapidly over the past decade with modern amenities - good gyms, international restaurants, coworking spaces, healthcare facilities - while maintaining a beach town charm that larger cities lost years ago. You can walk along the sand at sunrise, grab excellent Vietnamese breakfast at a street stall, and be swimming in warm ocean water before most people back home have finished their morning coffee.
Budget hotels start around $25-40 with clean rooms and basic amenities. Mid-range beachfront properties run $60-120, often including pools and breakfast. Luxury resorts like the Fusion Maia and Hyatt Regency can exceed $200 but deliver the full five-star experience.
Son Tra Peninsula
North of My Khe, the peninsula offers more secluded beach access and proximity to nature that's hard to find so close to a city. The InterContinental and similar high-end resorts occupy stunning locations here, perched above private beaches with jungle-covered mountains rising behind.
The peninsula itself is a nature reserve with excellent hiking, the famous Lady Buddha statue, and surprisingly abundant wildlife including the endangered red-shanked douc langur. Staying here means less convenience for dining options - you'll eat most meals at your resort or drive into town - but it's perfect for resort-focused stays where relaxation is the primary goal.
Han River/City Center
The downtown area along the Han River puts you in the heart of urban Da Nang. This suits those who prefer city energy over beach vibes, or travelers on tighter budgets who want more affordable accommodation without sacrificing location.
The riverside promenade comes alive at night, especially when the Dragon Bridge breathes fire on weekend evenings. Local restaurants here serve better Vietnamese food at lower prices than the beach area. Hotels are generally more affordable, with the beach accessible by a short taxi or Grab ride - maybe ten minutes and a dollar or two.
I recommend this area for travelers who want to experience Vietnamese city life rather than beach resort life. The two feel distinctly different.
Non Nuoc/Marble Mountains
South of My Khe, this area offers proximity to the fascinating Marble Mountains (Buddhist temples and caves carved into limestone formations) and a slightly quieter atmosphere. Several quality resorts including the Hyatt Regency are located here, often at lower prices than equivalent properties further north.
The area is also convenient for day trips to Hoi An - the ancient town is just 30 minutes south, making it possible to split your time between Da Nang's beaches and Hoi An's historic charm without changing hotels.
For Digital Nomads
The My Khe area works best for remote workers, with numerous cafes offering good wifi and tolerating laptop warriors for hours. 43 Factory Coffee and The Local Beans have become unofficial coworking spaces for the nomad community. Formal coworking spaces like Basecamp and Enouvo provide more professional setups when you need meeting rooms or reliable video call conditions.
Monthly apartment rentals provide better value for longer stays, typically $400-800 for a furnished one-bedroom near the beach with modern amenities, pool access, and sometimes gym facilities. That's the range I paid when I first arrived, though I've negotiated lower rates for my current long-term lease.
My Recommendation
First-time visitors should stay in the My Khe area for the best combination of beach access, dining options, and convenience. You can explore other areas easily but having the beach outside your door creates the quintessential Da Nang experience. Return visitors might explore the quieter Son Tra peninsula, venture into local neighborhoods along the Han River, or base themselves south near the Marble Mountains for a different perspective. Each area reveals a different face of this surprisingly diverse city.

Thirty years of Minneapolis winters were enough. Retired from manufacturing, packed up, and landed in Da Nang. Best decision I ever made. Now it's beach sunrises, Vietnamese coffee, and figuring out healthcare as an expat retiree. Happy to share what I've learned.
