Exciting news for Calgary’s outdoor enthusiasts: Sylvan Lake is set to get a new multisport field and pickleball courts next spring. As someone who’s embraced the local yoga scene, I’m thrilled to see these amenities coming to our community.

The project, part of the ongoing Pogadl Park development, will offer residents and visitors a place to enjoy a variety of sports. The multisport field will be perfect for football, soccer, and lacrosse, while the pickleball courts will cater to those who love this popular game. Construction on the field is nearly complete, with the addition of goal posts, turf, and a shock pad. The remaining work includes landscaping, fencing, and finishing the parking lot and surrounding roads.

Construction on the pickleball courts will begin next spring, as rain delayed the project this year. This development is part of a larger plan for Pogadl Park, which has been under construction since 2017 and is expected to be completed by 2028. The total project cost is estimated at around $34 million.

For expats and digital nomads like myself, these amenities mean more opportunities to stay active and connect with the local community. Whether you’re a yoga teacher like me, a sports enthusiast, or just someone who appreciates a good game of pickleball, this news is exciting. The opening of these facilities will undoubtedly enhance the quality of life in Sylvan Lake, providing a much-needed space for community engagement and physical activity.
