Halloween in Calgary: Don’t Pack Your Snow Pants Just Yet
With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about costumes, treats, and of course, the weather. As a digital nomad or expat living in Calgary, you might be wondering what the forecast holds for this spooky season. According to Brian Proctor, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the early Halloween weather in Alberta isn’t exactly what you’d call ‘frightening.’

Proctor predicts that much of southern Alberta will see some form of precipitation, mainly as spotty showers and flurries, leading up to Halloween. While Calgary will likely see more snowfall than Edmonton, the overall trend is warming and drying up through the weekend. Calgary can expect a high of 8°C on Halloween, while Edmonton will see 4°C with sunshine.
“While the forecast suggests some chilliness, it’s not going to be a particularly harsh Halloween for residents,” says Proctor. “The snowpants might not be necessary this year!”
Proctor also advises that people should start adjusting their driving habits now as early-season snowfalls are on the horizon. “Just give yourself a little bit more time out there and give yourself a little bit more space with the other vehicles if you can,” he adds.
