Calgarians, get ready to embrace the festive spirit as Spruce Meadows’ International Christmas Market is back, complete with a grand tree lighting ceremony by ATCO Energy. This year marks the third time ATCO Energy has partnered to light up the season, promising a mix of holiday cheer, tunes, and charitable activities.

On Friday, November 13, ATCO Energy will host a DJ, offer giveaways, and welcome holiday characters to celebrate the occasion. The event is a great way to get into the holiday mood, grab a warm drink, and perhaps start your holiday shopping early. Santa’s Cozy Corner will be set up in the Upper Plaza, where you can take a photo with Santa for a donation to Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta. This year, the corner has raised nearly $48,000, with fundraising more than doubling year over year.

But the festivities don’t end there. Santa will be available for photos from Fridays at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the market. This year also marks five years of ATCO Energy’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta, contributing over $250,000 in support of local families.

For expats and digital nomads like myself, these events are a reminder of home and a chance to get into the holiday spirit. While the details might seem familiar, it's always a good idea to check the specifics, like the exact times and donation amounts, to ensure you’re fully prepared for the festivities.
