Alberta drivers got a bit of a fuel break this week, as Circle K gas stations in the province offered a 10-cent per litre discount on fuel for just four hours, from 3 to 7 p.m. local time. This is part of National Fuel Day, which aims to make life on the road a little easier for everyone.

The Circle K discount is part of the province's efforts to extend the pause on the Alberta fuel tax, which has been in place since September and will continue until January 31, 2027. This has resulted in a 10-cent per litre discount on gas and a four-cent per litre discount on diesel.

Drivers can take advantage of the deal by downloading the Circle K app and registering an account, which will give them an early access discount from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time on Oct. 15. This offer is limited to one redemption per account and cannot be combined with other offers or promotions.

Stéphane Trudel, senior vice-president of operations at Alimentation Couche-Tard, explains, 'Our goal is to make life on the road just a little easier, because we know that every trip adds up.'

This offer is a welcome relief for drivers who have been paying inflated fuel prices due to various factors, including the recent extension of the federal fuel excise tax relief and the province's own fuel tax pause.

For those who missed out on the deal, the federal government's extension of the fuel excise tax relief until January 31, 2027 will continue to save Alberta drivers 10 cents per litre on gas and four cents per litre on diesel.

With this offer and the ongoing relief from the government and the province, Alberta drivers can continue to save money on fuel, making their next fill-up a little less stressful.

As a resident of Calgary for over five years, I have noticed the impact of these fuel discounts on my daily commute. It's a small but noticeable relief that helps me stretch my budget a little further.
