Whale Season in Boquete: A Reminder to Respect Our Wildlife
Every year, Boquete and the surrounding areas welcome the incredible spectacle of whale watching. As a parent of two who has been living in Boquete for six years, I can’t help but reflect on the importance of responsible wildlife viewing during this time.

While the presence of whales is a thrilling experience, it’s crucial to remember that these majestic creatures are wild and require respect. CONATUR, the national tourism authority, is emphasizing the need for responsible behavior among visitors and locals alike. This includes keeping a safe distance, avoiding loud noises, and not disturbing the whales in any way.
For expats and digital nomads like me, this message is particularly relevant. We often take our kids to the coast to witness the whale watching, and it’s essential to educate our children about the importance of conservation and responsible wildlife interaction. Boquete is a community that values nature, but it’s up to all of us to ensure that our actions don’t harm the very environment we love.
So, next time you plan a trip to the coast, remember that your presence can make a difference. Let’s all strive to be mindful and respectful visitors, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty of our natural world.
