I just realized the outlets in my new condo aren't actually grounded, but at least the water pipes are lol. I'm a bit worried about lightning strikes, especially since some of my water pipes are metal.

Not surge protectors but lightning rods have saved me twice. Twice direct strikes on the lightning rod on the roof, which leads to ground electrodes in a 5 point arrangement in the ground. This is something to consider if you're in a high-risk area, but it's worth noting that lightning strikes are extremely rare in Bangkok.

In Thailand, it's uncommon to find grounded water taps, as most pipes are made of blue or green plastic. However, if you do spot metal pipes, they're often not grounded and instead connect to plastic pipes. Furthermore, having three-prong sockets doesn't necessarily mean you have surge protectors, and having proper sockets doesn't guarantee the third wire is actually grounded. Thailand's electrical infrastructure can be complex, so it's essential to exercise caution.
