Bali’s Iconic Rice Cake War Returns: Where and How to Watch
One of Bali’s most unique and culturally significant traditions, Siat Tipat Bantal, is set to return on September 26 in Kapal Village, Badung. Known as the “Rice Cake War,” this centuries-old ritual is not just a festive event but a deeply spiritual ceremony held during the full moon of the fourth month in the Balinese calendar.

The event, centered along Jalan Raya Kapal, will see villagers gather to pray and engage in the symbolic throwing of rice cakes, representing the feminine and masculine principles, to signify fertility, balance, and prosperity. Traffic restrictions will be in place for an hour on Saturday afternoon to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
Visitors should prepare by dressing appropriately and following the instructions of event organizers to ensure they do not disrupt the religious and customary nature of the ceremony. This unique tradition is a must-see for anyone interested in Bali’s rich cultural heritage and the island’s community life.
