Calgary Students Rebuke AI Integration in Post-Secondary Education
Calgary’s post-secondary students are voicing concerns about the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in their educational institutions. At a panel hosted by Alberta’s Ministry of Advanced Education, students from the University of Calgary’s Students’ Union submitted feedback condemning the integration of AI in both academic and professional contexts. The panel, chaired by Nicole Janssen of Diffusion Advisory AI, is tasked with evaluating the impact of AI on post-secondary education and the labor market.

The feedback from students is clear: while acknowledging the utility of AI, they argue that its integration could diminish the core learning experience and potentially undermine the long-term success of students. President Gabriela Dziegielewska of UCalgary’s Students’ Union emphasized that AI should not be adopted simply for the sake of technology, but rather to enhance educational outcomes.
