What's the interest rate for Caja de Ahorros accounts?

I run a small laundry in Panama City and I've noticed that Caja de Ahorros advertises a 4% interest rate for their accounts, but whenever I calculate the interest, they always seem to pay less than what they offer. I'm not sure if this is a problem for small amounts, but for larger sums, it could be significant.

Always check the fine print - that 4% interest rate is only for balances over 50,000. If that's your case, verify the correct interest calculation with the bank, it's not usual to have calculation errors with any bank, but it's good to know how it's calculated.

That's why the Global Tab from Global Bank is still the best at 4%.

I switched when the rate dropped to 4% from 4.5%, but another bank still had 4.5% at the time. Now both have 4%, and I've seen that Mercantil offers up to 4.2%. I assume they'll raise their rates eventually, but they're quick to raise interest rates on loans here in Panama.

It was 4.5% a few months ago, and they lowered it.
