Tulum's Dragon Boat Team Competes on the Global Stage
After four years of dedication and hard work, the Puerto Aventuras Dragon Boat Club from Tulum, Mexico, is making waves in international competitions. Twenty paddlers from the club will compete in the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships in Taiwan, marking a significant milestone for both the club and Mexican dragon boat racing as a whole.

The club, founded in 2022 by François Blais, has come a long way since its first competition. Starting with just one crew, the Balam Ha, the club now boasts two teams: Balam Ha and Samchak Kukulcán. Samchak Kukulcán, in particular, stands out as it was founded by breast cancer survivors and has organized the first dragon boat festival in Mexico.
Competing in nine events across various distances, the Tulum team will race in the 200, 500, and 2,000-meter categories. Their journey to the world championships reflects their commitment and the growth of the sport in Mexico. Tulum 101 by Inmobilia has sponsored the trip to Taiwan, providing the necessary support for this historic event.
