Toronto’s Best Subway Patty: A Taste Test You Won’t Want to Miss
Fellow expats and digital nomads in Toronto, have you ever wondered which Jamaican beef patty reigns supreme in the city’s culinary scene? Well, your curiosity is about to be quelled, as the TTC and Streets of Toronto recently held a live blind taste test to crown the ultimate subway patty champion.

The event, held at Summerhill Station on September 21, saw a panel of expert judges, including chefs Lonie Murdock and Dadrian Coke, Streets of Toronto’s Kaitlin Narciso, and Toronto creator Fred B.K., evaluating six iconic patties from around the city. Each patty brought its own unique flavor and texture to the table, making for an exciting competition.
After careful deliberation, the judges declared Allwyn’s Bakery the winner, praising its golden, flaky pastry and just-right crust-to-meat ratio. Randy’s Patties came in second, recognized for its rich Scotch bonnet flavor and authentic kick. So, the next time you’re in the subway and craving a tasty snack, you know exactly which patty to go for!
