Don’t Miss Out: Claim Up to $1,800 from the CRA Before the Deadline
Hey Toronto expats and digital nomads! I’m Eunji Jeong, your friendly guesthouse owner here in Toronto. Have you filed your tax returns for the past few years? It’s time to check because you might be eligible for up to $1,800 from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)!

The CRA is proposing a deadline of October 30 for eligible individuals to file their outstanding tax returns to receive missing Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) payments. If you haven’t filed your returns for 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024, you could be missing out on a significant amount of money. Let’s break it down:
- For a family of four, the maximum amount could be $1,779 in Alberta, $1,193 in Manitoba, $1,124 in Ontario, $1,505 in Saskatchewan, $719 in New Brunswick, $766 in Nova Scotia, $801 in Prince Edward Island, and $1,162 in Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Single adults could receive up to $900 in Alberta, $600 in Manitoba, $560 in Ontario, $752 in Saskatchewan, $380 in New Brunswick, $412 in Nova Scotia, $440 in Prince Edward Island, and $596 in Newfoundland and Labrador.
But there’s a catch. This rebate is only available to residents in provinces without their own carbon pricing system: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and Ontario. If you live in British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Quebec, or Yukon, you won’t be eligible for this payment.
To claim your money, make sure to file your tax returns before October 30. It’s a simple process, but don’t wait until the last minute. If you’re not sure about your eligibility or need help, you can visit the CRA website for more information. Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this.
