Local Officials Finalize Future Development Plan for Las Cavernas Park
Local alcalde Gabriel Hernández Rodríguez of Camuy, Carlos Román of Hatillo, and Fabian Arroyo Rodríguez of Lares recently signed resolutions about the future of Las Cavernas Park. The resolutions include the transfer of the park's ownership to a tourism company, the promotion of public-private partnerships for park rehabilitation and sustainable development, and equitable participation of the three municipalities for economic benefits, job creation, and tourism management.

After consultations and analysis of studies, the three alcalde agreed on the preservation of the park's natural resources and its role as a regional economic driver. The resolutions also commit the municipalities to participate equitably in the park's development. They will be submitted to Governor Jenniffer González and members of the Legislative Assembly for inclusion in any future government efforts regarding the park's future.
Local alcalde Gabriel Hernández Rodríguez emphasized the importance of this agreement, which aims to preserve the park's natural wealth and promote regional economic growth. The resolutions are a significant step towards reactivating the park after the impact of hurricanes Irma and María.
The resolutions were approved by each municipality's legislative body and will be sent to Governor González and Legislative Assembly members. Local alcalde Héctor González López, who represents the Arecibo district, supported the agreements and expressed his approval in the Senate.
