Authentic Mexican culture in Puerto Vallarta and Dia de Muertos tips?
I'm in PV right now and honestly struggling to find much local culture. A lot of what I'm seeing is pretty geared toward American tourists, especially the food and it almost doesn't feel like Mexico. I love this country and have traveled all over it but this is the first place where I've felt this way.

Exploring neighborhoods beyond the typical tourist areas like the zona romántica and centro will give you a taste of authentic Puerto Vallarta. Neighborhoods like El Pitillal, La Floresta, and even some areas in Fluvial offer a glimpse into local life. However, these traditional neighborhoods are slowly undergoing gentrification, making them less authentic with each passing year.

If you want to experience the real Puerto Vallarta, consider visiting the Coapinole neighborhood in Pitillal. It's a short bus ride from the centro and zona romántica, and offers a more authentic and less touristy atmosphere. You can enjoy local cuisine, visit traditional shops, and get a feel for the city's culture without the crowds.
