I have an old TV and a blender that I need to get rid of, but I'm not sure how to dispose of them properly in Playa del Carmen.

You can drop off your electronics at a chatarrería, which is a local junkyard where you can take your unwanted items and they'll take care of recycling them. This is a good option for getting rid of larger items like an old TV. It's also a great way to support the local community and reduce waste. If you're planning to move to Playa del Carmen, it's worth noting that the city has a strong focus on sustainability and recycling, which is a big plus for environmentally-conscious expats.

The city of Playa del Carmen, as well as Cancun, has a monthly 'Reciclaton' program where they collect items that can't be put in regular garbage. They used to give out native plants or soil in exchange for your recyclables, but now they just give you a note from the city office. It's worth checking with the city socials to confirm the schedule and what items are accepted.
