CUN airport transfer timing?

CUN airport transfer timing?

My partner and I will be departing from Terminal 3 at 3:55PM on Saturday 11/21. We're staying at the Unico 20.87 resort and have arranged for a transfer company to pick us up at 11AM. However, we'd rather not be sitting at the airport for 2.5 - 3 hours before our flight, especially since we've never had to wait more than 1 - 1.5 hours before departure at other airports. Is this still the 'slow' period at Cancun and what can you suggest?

I'd rather sit in an airport for two hours than in a van on the road during rush hour and risk missing my flight. The single road from Único to the airport makes it a stressful trip. It's possible they're anticipating a busy weekend, like Thanksgiving.

I've flown into and out of Cancun every winter for five years. In my experience, transportation companies tend to provide conservative travel times to ensure you arrive with plenty of time to catch your flight. Given the time of year, you might be okay leaving at 12:00pm. However, I've encountered significant slowdowns on Highway 307 due to accidents and traffic jams, which added a lot of time to the trip. For example, I once got stuck in a traffic jam near a major intersection.

While traffic is usually fine, there was a year when an accident caused a two-hour delay. The airport was chaotic, and many people missed their flights. In that situation, security was a nightmare, and we had to sprint to the gate as our flight was boarding. It's ultimately up to you and your risk tolerance. For me, I'd rather have a relaxing morning on the beach than a stressful airport experience, but I'd rather not risk missing my flight.
