I'm visiting Mexico City with my mother, younger sister, and father, and we have a full schedule planned except for one night. We were originally going to see the folkloric show at Belas Artes, but it's very expensive.

How about going out to eat? Taking a stroll around the city? Grabbing a coffee? I'm not sure, can you be more specific?

The folkloric show does offer a discount at the ticket counter for Mexicans, and the one upstairs would be around 240 pesos if it's 350, which is worth it. There's also the book fair at the Zocalo with concerts, talks, and lots of bookstores.

You might consider going to a cafe with live music, there are several in Roma and Condesa that are family-friendly. There are also puppet shows in some parks that could be fun for everyone. If they like art, the museum in Coyoacan sometimes has special events at night.

Take a walk around the Zocalo, there's always something to see. Another option is to go to the UNAM, they have dance and theater performances that are more accessible.

There's a Mariachi show at night at the Sheraton Maria Isabel hotel in Reforma, right in front of the Angel, it's really fun.
