Mexico City is generally a welcoming place for the LGBTQ+ community. In particular, the Santa María la Ribera neighborhood has a sizable and visible LGBTQ+ presence. I've met many friends from the community who live in this area.

All of Mexico City is gay friendly. Way more open that anywhere in the US. However, it can be hostile to foreigners that aren't respectful towards locals.
