¡Llévale serenata! Free Mariachi in Mexico City for the Patriotic Month
Mexico City is planning to make the month of September a little more Mexican with free mariachi performances. As someone who’s been here since 2016, I’ve noticed that long-timers start to take the city for granted. But this is one perk that even the seasoned expat might appreciate.
Starting in September, the city will host free mariachi shows throughout the month. You can expect serenatas in parks, plazas, and even around some of the more popular landmarks. The goal is to celebrate the 150th anniversary of cantinas, which are a big part of the city's culture.
So, if you’re planning to stay in the city during the month of September, be prepared for some unexpected musical serendipity. Whether you're a long-time resident or just visiting, it's a nice way to experience the local flavor without breaking the bank.
