La Paz Street Closures for President Sheinbaum Visit: What You Need to Know
Hey expats and digital nomads in Los Cabos, this Sunday, September 24, 2026, President Claudia Sheinbaum will visit La Paz, and downtown streets will be closed from 6:00 a.m. onwards. The closures are expected to last throughout the day as the president addresses the local government at the Palacio de Gobierno.

The streets affected include Gral. Félix Ortega, Isabel la Católica, Ignacio Allende, and Nicolás Bravo. This means if you have plans in central La Paz, you'll need to find alternate routes. The governor, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, will also request federal support for bridge projects to reduce flooding-related road closures.
The visit is part of a broader federal initiative for Baja California Sur, which includes projects for highway maintenance, port modernization, school construction, and energy and water infrastructure. This is the second official tour of the president since taking office, and it’s a significant event for the local community.
Local authorities have not announced when streets will reopen, though closures are expected to last through the event. Residents and visitors traveling through central La Paz Sunday morning should plan alternate routes and allow extra time.
The governor’s office has not indicated whether additional security measures will extend beyond the four announced streets.
