I'm planning a day trip to Isla Mujeres from Cancun in early December with my friends. We're interested in scuba diving at MUSA and want to know if it's possible to book the tour and ferry tickets in advance, and if our itinerary is realistic for a one-day trip. We're also looking for recommendations on booking websites and tours.

If you want to see the Musa underwater sculpture, consider visiting Isla Mujeres first and then deciding how much time you have left. You can always relax on Playa Norte or try some local restaurants. Alternatively, you can book a diving tour with an instructor from Cancun and skip the ferry ride altogether.

Would you recommend visiting the island and doing the scuba diving on separate days? For example, taking the ferry to the island for a day and then doing the scuba diving from Cancun the next day?

Another option is to book a budget-friendly hotel and stay on the island for a couple of days. You can find affordable hotels near the beach for around $50 or even less than $100.
