Isla Mujeres’ Little League Field Renews for the Fall
Hey friends, I hope you’re doing well in this sunny corner of the world. I’m Sarah, an American expat running a small B&B on Isla Mujeres, and I’ve been here since 2022. Life is good, but there’s always something new to share with fellow expats and digital nomads like you.
Earlier this month, the long-awaited re-opening of the Ariel “Picho” Magaña field in Salina Chica was finally announced. This is huge news for the community, especially for the kids who’ll get to practice and play in a brand-new, upgraded space.
The field has undergone a three-month renovation, with the addition of a synthetic turf, new LED lights, and modern amenities like a new scoreboard and even new bathrooms. With over 150 children set to benefit from the improved facilities, it’s clear this is a big deal for the local community.
On September 7th at 6:30 PM, the field will be officially reopened with a friendly match between the Langosteros de Isla Mujeres and the Baby Sharks of Bonfil. It’s going to be a great night, and the local mayor, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, will be there to celebrate the occasion.
The field, named after the beloved local baseball figure Ariel “Picho” Magaña, is a key venue for nurturing young talent. It’s great to see the community coming together to support the next generation of athletes.
