Can I rent a motorcycle in Da Nang without a driving license?
I'm visiting Da Nang soon and want to rent a motorcycle, but I don't have a driving license. I've rented a motorcycle in Indonesia before and they only asked for a copy of my passport.

Driving licenses in Vietnam are becoming increasingly strict. If you rent a vehicle and get stopped by the police, the rental company could face penalties.

In Da Nang, riding a larger-cc motorbike without a license can result in a fine of at least 500,000 Vietnamese dong. However, you can rent a Vinfast Grand lite, a Vespa-style electric scooter with a 50 km/h speed limit, and drive it legally without a license. Some rental shops even offer a second battery for these bikes.

I've never experienced being stopped by police while riding a motorbike in Da Nang. In fact, I haven't seen many road controls in the past six months. It's possible that this is a common issue only in central Da Nang, but I'm not sure.
