Cancún recently joined the global fight against breast cancer by lighting up the Palacio Municipal in pink and hosting a variety of awareness activities. As a retiree living in Benito Juárez for eight years, I find this initiative both timely and relevant, especially for expats and digital nomads like myself who are here for the long haul.

The event, organized by the municipal government through the DIF Benito Juárez, included educational talks, screenings, and even a symbolic toque de campana by breast cancer survivors. While the noise and crowds can be a challenge, such events do bring attention to important health issues.
It's worth noting that while the pink lighting and marches are heartening, the real battle lies in regular check-ups and early detection. With the number of mammograms reaching over 12,000 in the region, it’s clear that local health initiatives are making a difference.
For those of us who call Cancún home, this is a reminder to stay proactive about our health. Whether you’re a resident or just visiting, don’t miss out on the free screenings and information sessions that are being offered.
